how this fic was born was truly the power of self-indulgence, i thought would if i wrote a skts street racing au, fought with doubt per usual, and then boom. this 20k journey arrived.

summary : in a nutshell let your body burn is about atsumu, a well known racer who's spent most of his life living in los angeles. until osamu decides to quit the life they'd built for years and moves to osaka, to which atsumu follows soon after. he's then swept up with black jackals, a group of strangers that he's thrown to work with. the worst of them is sakusa kiyoomi, and they get off on the wrong foot. but soon, atsumu discovers that there's more to him that meets the eye.

-miya atsumu: well known street racer in L.A, formally belongs to B.J's now. He was taught by Suna Rintarou almost everything he knows about racing from knowing his way around a car blind-folded.
> sakusa kiyoomi: the best mechanic in the osaka area, he used to race when he was younger until he was introduced to cars by barnes (his mentor) who passed away when he was eighteen.
> miya osamu: atsumu's younger brother, former duo of the Miya Twin's, who were well known in the Los Angeles streets. He gave up the street racing life to open up an onigiri shop
> suna rintatou: mentor to atsumu, a friend of osamu's. he was one of the reasons that osamu decided to leave the life of street racings, after he left for japan a few years ago. he's good friends with meian, and has connections all around.
> inunaki, bokuto, and hinata: racers

main locations:
Los Angeles- the Miya Twins specific area where they lived is not specified, but they've lived in most areas, such as the valley and beverly hills. as you can tell i do not live in LA, if it's obivious in fact i live on the east coast, so i apologize to Californians in advance....
Japan- true to the canon located in Haikyuu 98% of this fic takes place in Osaka, specific settings are Namba, other districts/areas mentioned are the Tennoji area, Umeda.
The black Jackals's garage is located in Namba, this is sort of what I imagined it to look like below for reference.

fun facts:
Atsumu first bought his car at 17, but he started driving with Suna's Lexus at 16. He moved to Los Angeles when he was 9 years old, and his parents were divorced a year later. they do maintain contact.Suna Rintarou is younger then him, yet he's been street racing for years longer. They would've went to the same high schoo. l if Atsumu hadn't dropped out his senior year. Osamu has a permanently broken thumb from a racing incident when he was 18. Sakusa visits his older sister on the weekends, and plays with his niece. Meian is divorced, and has two children who've been introduced to the Black Jackals.

References:
there are slight references to Meian's past as mentioned, he was a former racer, a professional racer before he settled down to raise a family which would be his ultimate demise. Orivor Barnes was Sakusa's mentor, and racing partner of Meian's in the past. (Granted I have a habit of forgetting him in fics so he's here again, playing a minor role in shaping Sakusa's character)."He wears a distant memory on the hilt of his neck, a sword hung above his hand, and he wants to reach, closer and closer, and blood drips down his face, sliding down his neck and salt to a wound that Atsumu remembers his first mishap." this is a reference to the sword of damocles which foreshadows his injury. there are gratuitous amounts of food metaphors/ references: the food sort of represents the love and compassion of Los Angeles, because food is a metaphor for love.

Extra:
to the right is visual of sakusa's former wear as a mechanic. Typically during races, atsumu wears leather, as similar when riding a motorcycle in order to prevent your skinned by the rough roads if injuried or similar.i'm not a professional in street racing, or cars but i did my best to try to get proper terminology, or at least make it realistic with this sort of au worldbuilding.in the original planning Suna, wasn't supposed to have a large presence in the Miya twins life, but somehow that important plot point took a life on it's own.the doctor that Osamu has connections to is Kita, Inarizaki aren't really a big part of the twins life, though they were a few who might inferenced to be befriended by Atsumu when he was a teenager.
